Flawless BaseMake-up tips for brides and everyday beauty. Hands up who likes to look perennially fresh, rested and just generally fabulous? yes? Well if you do one thing for yourself in the beauty department, I would say that great skin, and the ability to fake it after a few too many late nights and microwave dinners, is THE skill to perfect. Now this is a tricky one in the fact that everyone has very different skin types, and some persistent skin problems may need the help of well regarded dermatologist. In this instance I am just going to tackle the normal/oily and dry skin types The perfect foundation blends seamlessly into your skin, covers blemishes, illuminates the skin (Corpse-Chic is best left to Vivienne Westwood) and blends perfects with your NECK. Yes your neck. There are many women out there who have been duped by one too many make-up counter chicks. STEP ➀ Seamless blending - Your face tends to be a few shades lighter than your neck. If you match your face, or jawline, you are going to end up with a floating head. This is not a good look, especially in wedding photos that will last a lifetime. Always match your neck.
- Insure your skin in adequately hydrated and smooth BEFORE application. My recommendation for almost all skin types is Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate. This gel creates the perfect base, while reducing oil.
- A good foundation is also key. This is the one area where you absolutely need to splash out. My favourites are Bobbi Brown, Giorgio Armani, and By Terry (available at MECCA COSMETICA)
STEP ➁ Cover blemishes - Cover blemishes and not your entire face. This is key to having flawless but natural looking skin if you are prone to breakouts and scarring. Purchase a concealer that exactly matches your chosen foundation shade. A little brush is perfect for painting presicely over spots . Then press and dab into skin rather than wiping.
- Remember that face concealer is going to be different to under eye concealer. One is neutralizing blue, while the other is neutralizing reds and browns.
* (I have listed favourite concealers in 'Top notch concealers' review) The rest is all up to individual tastes and skin types. Remember that you want to look naturally flawless. Heavy make-up flatters no one. Any questions email me at : mnmakeup@operamail.com
